The work fits a driveway that has settled uneven or keeps cracking after storms, and a surface that sheds seasonal rain instead of holding it.
When does a driveway need new pavers?
Hardscaping Specialists replaces a driveway when cracks keep reopening or sections sink after heavy rain, because that means the base under the surface is no longer holding. If water is getting under the edges, patching only delays the problem. We look at the surface and how water runs across it before we quote.
Near the coast, storm-surge flooding from tropical storms and hurricanes can put water on low spots. We check how the current driveway drains in West Palm Beach before we plan the replacement.

How much does the work cost?
Installed concrete-paver driveways run $9 to $18 per square foot. Hardscaping Specialists will quote that range over the phone, and the firm figure follows once we've walked the driveway and taken measurements. The quote is written from that measurement, including the street and garage transitions.
The base under the pavers is ASTM C33 bedding sand, with geotextile fabric added where the soil needs to be separated from the sand.

What makes the price change?
Area is the main driver, followed by the shape of the driveway and whether geotextile fabric is needed under the sand. Those factors decide where your job lands within that range. Square footage and any extra steps are itemized in the written quote.
Small or oddly shaped areas take more hand work around the edges, and we note that when we measure. Geotextile fabric is a separate line, charged only on driveways where the ground needs it.
How do we install the pavers?
We lay the pavers on ASTM C33 bedding sand, then run a plate compactor over them, using a protective pad where needed to limit surface damage. Next we sweep joint sand into the joints and vibrate it in with the compactor until the joints are full.
Full joints are what keep the units locked together, so rain runs off the surface instead of working down into the sand.
How long does the job take?
Driveway size and weather set the schedule, and Hardscaping Specialists gives dates after measuring. In West Palm Beach the wet season runs from mid-May through late October, so we build rain delays into the plan. June and September usually bring the heaviest rain.
If a storm is forecast, we hold off on laying and compacting until it passes, so the sand bed isn't washed out before the joints are filled.
Pieces of the Work
For work like this, a few of the specifics:
- Screed ASTM C33 bedding sand to a consistent uncompacted thickness of 1 to 1½ inches.
- Lay the concrete pavers in the specified pattern; 45- or 90-degree herringbone is recommended where vehicles continually use the pavement.
